Autumn is Canberra's best season. After the first couple of frosts the millions of deciduous trees begain their autumn display. Some of the colours are almost garish - like those lining the Lake in front of old and new Parliament Houses. These amazing colours coincide with Budget time, hence the title. The two large yellow Poplars are well-known landmarks in the two quadrangles of old parliament house.
